Product review: the electronic gymnic massage exerciser
Hi!
I bought an "Abdominal Belt Exerciser" a while ago but it took me some time to get around to try it. I have been trying it out for a month now and I definitely have the idea that it is working.
In the beginning it was hard because although the instructions are very clear and precise, the little device is not working as stated. However I have now found out how to work it: the on/off knob works for turning it on and off. Once it is on you press the Mode button (the triangle) which starts a program, you press the Mode knob repeatedly to change program to get to the one you want, and then the on/off knob works for increasing the intensity of the electric pulses. Pay attention here: the knob only goes UP in intensity, so in order to get back to a lower intensity you have to press the third button, which turns it off, or take off the belt, and get all the way to 10, the highest intensity, after which it returns to 1. The higher intensities can be quite uncomfortable. The available programs are described in the instructions. I am still trying them out as there are quite different pulses.
I am mostly using it on my belly, although if I have the time I use it on arms and legs as well. My belly is definitely tighter, whereas I have kept to my normal exercise routine so it does not come from the exercise. Also I sometimes have muscle ache afterwards.
You can see that although I am quite well-trained and not in need of losing weight, I have quite a belly! And have been trying to get rid of it like forever.
You can actually see your muscles jump to the electrical impulse. I am definitely going to keep on using it, although not as an alternative to exercise but rather an addition. It has an extra battery, but the original one has not worn out yet.
The belt is slim and easy to use; it fits easily under my clothing and I can move about unhindred. Every program stops automatically after 10 minutes. A tiny tube of gel is included, which is refillable. A dab of gel needs to be put on the gel pads before you apply the belt; this is really important. Water also works but it dries out faster.
That electrical impulses have an effect on muscles is proven. My husband has a massage chair and some kind of device with gel pads; both are intended to relieve back pain and they definitely have an effect, I have tried them out myself.
