Oh no! Disaster has struck! Exfoliative cheilitis.

Image
Hi! Here I am thinking I am doing other people a favor and it turns out to be a mess. I have written about this propolis product that is still keeping my exfoliative cheilitis under control. It flares up a bit now and then with some peeling but I very seldom have cracks or red, irritated skin around the lips anymore. However I was approached by a desperate person wanting to know about this cure and when I tried to link it to her it was not there anymore. Help! I still have a reserve bottle but the current one is almost finished. I am going to look very hard for an alternative and I will see if I can contact the original seller. Hang in there, if I find something I will post! I am going to try this one:  Propolis honey paste  but I cannot say anything about it until I have tried it.

Exfoliative cheilitis update; I have found a cure!

Hi!  Much has happened since my last post in this area.  I have had an allergy test ( 4 days with 2 large stickers on your back, no needles thank god) but was not allergic to anything (strange, I can think up some things though. Dishwashing liquid. Boring speakers. Delayed trains. A bank which cannot take cash. Anything which will put up my spikes.) I have been trying this product for a week now: APV Tentorium. (sorry no pic anymore, it is no longer sold online) ..... and it is working! It started working directly the second day, and although it goes slowly, by now I am not peeling anymore! My lips are still slightly hard on the outside edges but it seems to be getting less every day. I have stopped using the Daktacort and my lips look completely normal. I apply two drops of the liquid twice a day, let it dry and then put a moisturizer over it (Debucal, calendula salve or aloe lip balm). A few weeks ago I had to use lipstick and foundation to cover up the m...

Does Aloe Vera help against exfoliative cheilitis?

Image
Hi! Does Aloe Vera help against exfoliative cheilitis? Short answer: no. But that may not be all. I bought an Aloe Vera Gel 100% at the apothecary. At the time I was having a bad time with my lips; burning red skin around, cracking, bleeding, the works. So maybe my skin was reacting badly to anything at all, even to products I have used before without problems, I have had that before. The gel is not like the fatty products I am using to keep my lips pliable. It dries up kind of like the Sahara does after rain: it cracks . Not a good  idea if the skin already is cracking. So in order to get Aloe in, I mixed it with some cream which I previously have not reacted to. No use. I have used it for a week, which I think is long enough, and it is not working. First it got worse and then it slowly got a little better.  tripleclicks.com Aloe Vera Gel Wrinkle Removal Moisturizing Anti-inflammatory Anti Mosquito Bites 13g —  €8.55   (Save 34%!) ...

Exfoliative cheilitis returns with a vengeance

Image
Hi! I thought I had it under control. For a long time I used to wake with hard keratinous lips which would peel in the course of the day and I would then at least have the afternoon with normal lips; no cracking or bleeding. Suddenly last Wednesday I was too busy to keep them properly moisturized, maybe that was the trigger. On Thursday after the peeling the strips of skin would not loosen at the part where lip meets skin and the contact points were oozing wound liquid. The skin around the mouth was red and itching. Friday I woke up cracking and bleeding. Now, on Sunday afternoon, suddenly great flaps of skin started peeling off and now my lips seem pretty normal even if they are red, as if I have lipstick on, and they are very sensitive to salt, texture and temperature. I am keeping them well moisturized and am hoping for the best.  lipcare

Exfoliative cheilitis revisited and burning mouth syndrome

Image
HI! About a year ago, in November 2015, I developed cracked and peeling lips. Originally I thought it was because of the cold weather, although I have never had this before in 11 years of living in the Netherlands and 5 years of living in Sweden. But it did not disappear when I went back to the tropics for 5 weeks. I tried about a bucketful of different remedies. Finally in May I went to a doctor who analyzed some of the skin flakes that I kept peeling off (several cm2 a day!) and told me it was a fungus called Geotrichem, which is commonly found on your skin. No clue as to why it suddenly was a problem. I used Daktacort twice a day and it did kind of disappear over a 3-week period; however if I forgot the Daktacort for a day or two I would get it back. Since the beginning of October I have had it back in spite of continuous use of the Daktacort. Since it contains cortisone I have changed over to Daktarin which is a fungicide but with no cortisone. Last weekend it was so bad tha...

My cure for exfoliative cheilitis (chronic peeling and cracking of the lips)

Image
Hi! As I have written in another  post  I suffered from exfoliative cheilitis for 8 months. This is a chronic peeling and cracking of the lips. I also had a sore mouth on the inside and as a result of that, most of the day a burnt tongue, which made it difficult to eat. Furthermore on some days the skin around my lips would be red, swollen and itchy. The condition is painful, unsightly and definitely causes misery for the victim.                 In the other post I wrote about all the different cures I have tried; they would half fill a bucket! Creams and oils and lip balsam  and vitamins  and fish oil  and calendula salve (which did help a bit). An unknown cause of misery: exfoliative cheilitis (chronic peeling & cracking of the lips)

Hi! Latest updates are added below ; about how it is going with my treatment trials. Check it out now-I  may have found something! Today 7th of April I am on a health topic that has kept me continuously busy for 7 months now and I have finally found out what it is. In November 2015 my lips suddenly started cracking and peeling.  I thought it was just the cold here in Sweden, but I have never had it before in the 6 winters I have experienced here and the 13 winters I lived in the Netherlands. I used a lipstick ( Lipfinity , great durability!) at the time which I had been using for several years. I stopped using the lipstick and bought lip balm. When it just got worse I bought other lip balms , I have I think about 7 of them. None worked. Even worse, the skin around the lips became red and itchy and irritated and it is hard not to bite or scratch at it, which of course makes it worse. In addition the inside of my mouth is very tender and it feels like there is a h...
