Exfoliative cheilitis returns with a vengeance

I thought I had it under control. For a long time I used to wake with hard keratinous lips which would peel in the course of the day and I would then at least have the afternoon with normal lips; no cracking or bleeding. Suddenly last Wednesday I was too busy to keep them properly moisturized, maybe that was the trigger. On Thursday after the peeling the strips of skin would not loosen at the part where lip meets skin and the contact points were oozing wound liquid. The skin around the mouth was red and itching. Friday I woke up cracking and bleeding.


Now, on Sunday afternoon, suddenly great flaps of skin started peeling off and now my lips seem pretty normal even if they are red, as if I have lipstick on, and they are very sensitive to salt, texture and temperature. I am keeping them well moisturized and am hoping for the best.

Hi!  Much has happened since my last post in this area.  I have had an allergy test ( 4 days with 2 large stickers on your back, no needles thank god) but was not allergic to anything (strange, I can think up some things though. Dishwashing liquid. Boring speakers. Delayed trains. A bank which cannot take cash. Anything which will put up my spikes.) I have been trying this product for a week now: APV Tentorium. (sorry no pic anymore, it is no longer sold online) ..... and it is working! It started working directly the second day, and although it goes slowly, by now I am not peeling anymore! My lips are still slightly hard on the outside edges but it seems to be getting less every day. I have stopped using the Daktacort and my lips look completely normal. I apply two drops of the liquid twice a day, let it dry and then put a moisturizer over it (Debucal, calendula salve or aloe lip balm). An unknown cause of misery: exfoliative cheilitis (chronic peeling & cracking of the lips)

Hi! Latest updates are added below ; about how it is going with my treatment trials. Check it out now-I  may have found something! Today 7th of April I am on a health topic that has kept me continuously busy for 7 months now and I have finally found out what it is. In November 2015 my lips suddenly started cracking and peeling.  I thought it was just the cold here in Sweden, but I have never had it before in the 6 winters I have experienced here and the 13 winters I lived in the Netherlands. I used a lipstick ( Lipfinity , great durability!) at the time which I had been using for several years. I stopped using the lipstick and bought lip balm. When it just got worse I bought other lip balms , I have I think about 7 of them. None worked. Splitting nails

Hi! My yoga programme is still going strong. Doing 10-15 minutes first thing every morning really gets my energy levels up and my stress levels down. I wanted to take up another health problem. I have at times split nails, mostly the thumbs, and although it is a relatively small problem it can be very painful during a few days. I have done some research online; it is called onychoschizia and apparently it is very seldom due to a vitamin deficiency. If you have split nails on both hands and feet then it might be indicative of this. I do have two permanently split toe nails, but they are the second toes. They are the longest and therefore often the ones that I hit and they have the most pressure inside shoes. Therefore I think that with the toes it is a mechanical problem. Not only do the nails split (both vertically but also horizontally) but the skin in the corners sometimes also splits and this is also very painful.
